More than A Game š
One āļø thing I keep coming back to is basketball š
I think as we get into spirituality š§ and religion ā”ļø, we can be amazed at new worlds and perspectives. Basketball starts to look less important and more like a gameā¦
But it keeps coming back throughout all lifeās events and growth. It is more than a game.
Iām starting to think and feel differently. We can get lost in doing something worthwhile, doing something that will āreallyā make a difference, and lose touch with, well, what we simply enjoyed playing as a kid.
As Howard Thurman said, ādonāt ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive and go out and do it. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.ā
Even in the Chassidus ā”ļø we can ānullifyā our desires to be more aligned with Hashem. However, as the Lubavitcher Rebbe taught on numerous occasions (eg about the prayer of Chana on Rosh Hashana), the inner motivation for our physical desires is an expression of the inner part of our soul.
When weāre doing what we love, weāre also serving Him bāsimcha, with joy!
